Top 20 Movies of 2008

Why stop at 10 when there are so many excellent movies out there and the internet has infinite space? To settle any arguments that may spring up, some of these movies were released as early as 2007 and exhibited in theaters as late as 2009, but they are all uniquely connected with 2008 either through their U.S. theatrical releases or festival exhibition. We aren’t saying these movies are perfect, but they are our favorites.

I know I’m going to get crap for Benjamin Button. But that’s the beauty of having your own website!
-CH.
Hmm, yes, Benjamin Button. Blah blah.
Holler for In Bruges, though.
I think it’s a refreshing list, compounded by the fact that “Anywhere, USA” is on it. You should review Ben Button, so as to make your case for it. Also, I haven’t seen “Filth and Wisdom,” but is it only on here because you think Eugene Hutz is hot?
p.s. This is the only website I have ever left a comment on.
That’s a good question about Filth and Wisdom, Jerren, and I’d love to answer it for you. Filth and Wisdom was not only delightful to watch and a triumphant directorial debut, but it was bashed to shit in reviews that I felt were wholly unfair. Plus, Eugene Hutz is extremely hot.
I second that emotion. Eugene is scorchingly hot, gold tooth and all…
Can this be a Hutz swooning page?
Oh, I’m actually very interested in the artistry of his films, too…
Lack of good movies? Girl, you just wasn’t lookin!
Very happy about your number 3 pick! I was very impressed with that movie. I want everyone I know to see it. I feel like those characters are just over in Sweden, hanging out. Although… it did end with some unanswered questions, which left me more intrigued and smitten with Oskar and Eli.
Unanswered questions INDEED, Kathleen. For instance, is it a positive thing that Oskar finds love with someone who will protect him from being bullied, or a negative thing that he has signed up for a life of murdering innocent people, only to probably be killed by his gf when she finds someone new! Which one is it??? AH!
